As May begins to wind down and we head towards the Memorial Holiday Weekend, normally, or at least for the past three seasons, the Lansing Community College (LCC) Softball team would be on their way to Clinton, MS for the NJCAA DII Softball World Series.  This year, not to be so.  The Stars fell to Lake Michigan College in the NJCAA District I Semifinal in Sandusky, OH, on Wednesday, May 15th 4-3 sending the Stars home earlier than normal and expected.

With the conclusion of the season, there would be some joy as the Stars players and Head Coach, Marc Kibby, rake in the honors.  The Stars would finish the season with an overall record of 39-17 playing a tough spring trip schedule in early March but finishing conference play with a record of 29-3, the best in school history in over eight seasons.  Coach Kibby would be named MCCAA Western Conference Coach of the Year for the 4th time in a row and in his career.

The players would be led by freshman Kimberlee Maddox (Constantine, MI) as she would be named MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, All MCCAA Team, and All NJCAA Region XII Team.  With Kibby and Maddox's awards, it is a clean sweep for the three major awards for the Stars.

Also being named MCCAA Western Conference First Team, All MCCAA and All NJCAA Region XII Team, and MCCAA Western Conference All Freshman Team are Mercedes Cole (Constantine, MI), Rebecca Curtis (Saginaw, MI), and Hannah Hull (Acme, MI). Receiving MCCAA Western Conference Second Team and MCCAA All Freshman Team honors was Kennedy Steele (Fort Wayne, IN). Receiving MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention honors were Sara Reinhardt (Sebewaing, MI), Mattie Leece (Lansing, MI), and Kylee Taylor (Kalamazoo, MI).

With Softball and Baseball winning the top three honors, Caoch of the Year, Player of the Year, and Freshman of the Year, this is the first time in LCC history this has been accomplished.

All honors can be found on the MCCAA website at, softball honors.
