As the sun sets on winter it also sets on basketball season at LCC.

The Stars competed in the NJCAA Region XII Division II Great Lakes West Men's Tournament on Tuesday, March 3. LCC lost 92-64 in the first game against Kellogg Community College, officially ending itsseason.

"It was a very difficult thing to deal with," sophomore Xaviah Andrews said. "A lot of our guys played as hard as they could and the result did just fall short."

LCC Head Coach Mike Ingram also commented on the loss.

"I thought we were prepared, but we didn't play well," Ingram said. "I think we just didn't make some plays early in the first half, we didn't make some plays in the second half and then it kind of snowballed on us … in the end we just didn't have it."

The Stars ended its season with an overall record of 13-17, and a 9-9 record in the MCCAA Western Conference.

Ingram offered his thoughts on the season.

"I thought that we would be better," Ingram said. "I thought as a coaching staff that we tried multiple ways to try and reach the guys and help them get to the level that we wanted them to get to, but for some reason it just didn't happen."

Throughout the season sophomore Darious Young led the team by scoring 15.5 points per game and delivering 4.1 assists per game.

Sophomore Tevin Ali was close behind by scoring 15.8 points per game. He also led the team in rebounding, grabbing 8.6 per game.
