The Stars were getting buckets from the start.

The men's basketball team improved to 3-0 in a 108-82 blowout against Delta College on Nov. 16 in the Gannon Gym.

Sophomore Colin Jones led the way for LCC with 26 points, all in the first half, and added six rebounds. Jones shot 11 of 12 from the field, with his only miss being his lone three-point attempt.

With the Stars' previous game being on Nov. 5, they had almost two weeks of practice time before facing Delta. LCC Head Coach Mike Ingram said the off time allowed his team to work on intensity and defense.

"We worked really hard on our conditioning; we worked really hard on our defense and what we are trying to do," Ingram said. "We also really worked hard on executing on the offensive end."

Ingram said he saw all of those things come together in the win against Delta.

"We got away from what we were doing and they cut the lead to 13, then we executed four offensive sets in a row and got three or four stops on defense," Ingram said.

"Then our conditioning came into play, so all of the three things we had been working on came into play in about a two- to three-minute span."

Sophomore Isaiah Green was dominant in the paint, with 21 points, nine rebounds and six booming blocks for the Stars.

Green said this kind of defensive play should be expected moving forward.

"Coach is always bugging me about defense, helping recover," Green said. "We've been working so hard this past week (in practice) … I had to step up and show that I could play defense and it came easy to me."

Freshman Ja'Myrin Jackson scored 17 points on 12 shots, while grabbed eight rebounds and dishing out six assists for LCC.

Jackson said he recognizes the kind of player he needs to be for the team to be successful.

"I've got to stay in attack mode," Jackson said. "I play point guard so my team needs me to be a floor general. I have to be able to get mine and help them get theirs and rebounding is a big part of our game. You can't always let the big guys get the rebounds."

The Stars were scheduled to play in the Lansing Invitational against Northwood JV on Friday, Nov. 18 and CBCC Dundalk on Saturday, Nov. 19.
