For the second consecutive season the Lansing Community College (LCC) Stars Men's Basketball Team has won a District 9 Championship propelling them to the NJCAA National Tournament.  The tournament will be played in Danville, ILL March 15th - 19th.  The National Tournament consists of a 16 team field from District Champions from around the country.

In the semifinal game against Jackson College on Friday, March 4th at Delta College in University Center, MI, the Stars took a commanding lead carrying a 24pt lead into the second half.  The Jackson College Jets fought admirably in the second half cutting the lead at one point to eight, but the Stars closed the game out winning by 13.  The Stars were led in scoring by Javon Haines' 32pts while shooting 50% from beyond the arc.  Sophomore Jimmy Kodet scored 13pts while blocking 4 shots and collecting 9rbs.  Freshman Isaiah Green chipped in with 9pts and 5 blocked shots. As a team the Stars 44.8% of the total shots hitting 44% from beyond the three point line.

The Stars capped off their District championship run by beating the 8th ranked Muskegon CC Jayhawks 90-87 on Saturday, March 5th at Delta College.  Again the Stars were led by Tournament MVP Javon Haines with 36pts, 4rbs and 4asts.  Freshman Isaiah Green (all-tournament team) dominated post play with 23pts while shooting 84.6% from the field and finished off a double double with 12rbs.  For the game the Stars shot 46% from the floor and 42% from beyond the three point line.

 Of the 16 participants in the National Championship field 14 slots have been filled with the final two being determined on Sunday, March 6th.  At that point the tournament committee will begin deliberating the seeding for the tournament.  The seeding will be released on Tuesday, March 8th.
