Athlete Spotlight: Runner Kobe Blanco

The Lookout Staff Writer Jayden Hewitt recently spoke with third-year cross country runner Kobe Blanco. Blanco graduated from Charlotte High School in 2020.

What are some of your plans after LCC?
“After LCC, I’m transferring to Spring Arbor University to continue my academic and athletic career. I hope to be accepted into nursing school soon after I transfer.”

Is there a specific moment while running at LCC or in high school that sticks out to you?
“My sophomore year at the Greater Lansing championship in high school. I had one best races of my life with a lot of close friends and family watching me race. It’s something I won’t forget.”

What’s one thing you would be doing if you weren’t a runner?
“I would do corn hole instead and hopefully go to some big tournaments and win.”

What are some goals you or your team may have for this season?
“My goal is to win nationals with my team. We have been working closely together on this goal for a while now.”

What are some of your pre-run routines?
“I like to do some dynamics before I run. It make me feel more smooth when I run.”

When did you begin running cross country?
“I began running cross country when I moved to Michigan in sixth grade. That was about 2013.”

Do you have any music that pumps you up before you run, or during?
“My favorite pump (up) music would be “E for Extinction” by Thousand Foot Krutch, “Time to Make History by Shihoko Hirata, and “Soft and Wet” by Prince.”
