Women’s Cross Country dominate at Regional

The second ranked Lansing Community College Women's Cross Country team dominated at the NJCAA Region XII Cross Country meet hosted by Lansing Community College at Grand Woods Park in Lansing on Saturday, October 29th.  With 16 teams competing for the NJCAA Region XII championship the defending national champion Lady Stars took five of the top six finishing positions to dominate the event with a total score of 17 points.  Vincennes University followed in a distant second with 62 points.

The Stars were led by freshman Casey Mossholder and Melissa Ricci and sophomore and returning All American Kaitlin Beyer taking the top three finishing positions.  Freshman Ashley Lindeman and sophomore Madison Slater finished 5th and 6th overall to cap of the scoring positions for the Stars.

With winning the overall meet the Stars not only win the regional championship they also win the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) championship as well.  This makes four consecutive MCCAA championships and 13 of the last 14 years.

The Stars will be traveling to Eldorado, Kansas for the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Butler Community College.
