Stars start the season hot

Lansing traveled to Rantoul, Illinois, today to take on nationally ranked Parkland College and NJCAA Divison 1 Lake Land College to start the season.

In Game 1, Lansing won 4-3 behind Elijah Stark's 5.0 innings pitched, giving up two runs and four strikeouts. Lukas Brewer pitched 3.1 innings giving up zero runs and striking out 5. The Stars banged out 12 hits en route to the win and were led by Payton Mazzola, Shane Juday and Chris Hege, and Will Bowen, who all had two hits each.

In Game 2. Lansing won 8-7 on a walk single by Preston Leon in the 9th inning. J.T. Brandenburg provided three hits and long distance home run in the contest. Bobby Butler and Noah Bright each had two hits. Christian Arquette got the win for the Stars.

#5 Lansing starts the season 2-0 and will leave for their spring trip in Mississippi and surrounding states on Wednesday morning for 12 days, which will see them take on many more top-ranked opponents, including #1 Pearl River. Pearl River knocked off Lansing last season in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA World Series.
