Baseball season concludes short of goal but with many honors

As the Lansing Community College (LCC) Stars baseball team ended the regular season ranked 7th in the country, there were expectations of making a long run into the post season.  The Stars completed the regular season with a 35-6 record, best percentage in school history, and a conference record of 27-1, also best in school history, securing their third straight Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference championship.  But the long run wasn't to be.

The Stars went 1-2 in the NJCAA Region XII tournament beating Kalamazoo Valley CC 6-5 on Tuesday, May 14th with a walk off single by Michael Stylges.  On Wednesday the Stars would lose to Kellogg CC 14-4 and Sinclair CC 8-5 sending them home.

With the conclusion of the season, the many Stars would collect individual honors.  Led by Freshman Cameron Hart (Armada, MI) who would be named the MCCAA Eastern Conference Freshman of the Year and Player of the year. With this he would be named First Team All MCCAA East, All MCCAA and to the All NJCAA Region XII Team.

With first year coach Jordan Keur also receiving MCCAA Eastern Conference Coach of the Year honors, this is the first time in school history that the LCC Baseball team has swept the three top awards of Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

Also receiving honors are Christian Petre (Sanford, MI) who would also be named to the First Team All MCCAA East, All MCCAA and to the All NJCAA Region XII Team.  Receiving MCCAA Eastern Conference Second Team honors and MCCAA All Freshman team was starting pitcher Seth Marano (Plymouth, MI).  Receiving MCCAA Eastern Conference Third Team Michael Stygles (DeWitt, MI) and Tyler David (Bay City, MI).  Receiving MCCAA Eastern Conference Honorable Mention were Manny Garza (Rittman, OH), Alex Strickland (Traverse City, MI), Ethan Collick (Saline, MI), Grant Jebbia (New Boston, MI), Michael Barno (Chesterfield, MI), Brady Keur (Hudsonville, MI), and Craig Palidar (Wadsworth, OH).

With Softball and Baseball wining the top three honors, Caoch of the Year, Player of the Year, and Freshman of the Year, this is the first time in LCC history this has been accomplished.
